How to enable the Rosetta keyboard
- Open iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard.
- Pick “Rosetta” from the list.
- Tap “Rosetta” in the installed keyboards and enable “Allow Full Access” if you want to use the saved phrase.
What “Allow Full Access” means
iOS shows a standard warning. For Rosetta, “Allow Full Access” only lets the keyboard read the locally saved phrase through the App Group. Rosetta does not send what you type online.
Switching keyboards with the globe
When typing inside an app, long-press the globe icon (or space) on the keyboard to switch keyboards. Pick “Rosetta” to use it.
Free vs Pro
- Free: decrypt as many messages as you want, encrypt up to 3 per day, type the phrase manually each time.
- Pro: unlimited encryption, phrase saved on the device, full Rosetta keyboard unlocked.
The 3 encryptions/day limit
The Free plan allows up to 3 encryptions per day. The counter resets every 24 hours. Decryption remains unlimited.
Restore purchases
In the in-app Settings screen you’ll find a “Restore Purchases” button. Use it if you already bought Rosetta Pro on this Apple ID and you want to unlock features on a new device.
Clear the saved phrase
Turn off “Remember phrase” in the in-app Settings to remove the phrase from the device.
A message won’t decrypt
- Check that the phrase is exactly the same one used to encrypt (spaces and case matter).
- Verify the full ciphertext was pasted, without missing or truncated characters.
- If the message was encrypted with an older format, ask the sender to re-send it.
I lost the phrase
Rosetta keeps no remote copies of the phrase. If the phrase is lost or forgotten, messages encrypted with it cannot be recovered.
Does Rosetta read WhatsApp or other apps?
No. Rosetta does not automatically read WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email or any other app. Rosetta only encrypts text you enter in its fields or type through its keyboard.
Where can I use Rosetta
You can use Rosetta wherever you can type or paste text: messaging, email, notes, social. Encrypt in the Encrypt screen (or with the Rosetta keyboard) and paste the result wherever you like.
